Chief People Officer, Axios
Dominique Taylor is the Chief People Officer at Axios, a digital media company, where she leads their award-winning People Operations team that supports every aspect of the employee experience.
She has grown the company from 100 to 500+ employees and built out the People Operations function, expanding the original team of five into a function with four departments of 30+ employees. Hired to spearhead the company’s diversity and inclusion efforts, Dominique increased the percentage of people of color at Axios from 14% to 40%, the percentage of female Axions from 53% to 60%, and maintained strong LGBTQIA+ representation with 14% of employees identifying as LGBQIA+ and 4% of employees identifying as transgender.
Dominique came to Axios from 1776, a start-up incubator, where she built the organization’s Talent and Culture function and worked with entrepreneurs around the world to inform their startup’s culture and diversity strategies. Prior to that, she built out the Talent and Culture function at EverFi, an ed-tech company, as the company grew from 75 people to over 400, raised a Series C, acquired another company and won a myriad of awards ranging from DC’s Coolest Companies to Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work.
Dominique graduated from Georgetown University and spent the first half of her career as a consultant focused on Workforce Management.
Dominique believes culture and diversity are key drivers of a company’s success, that both are set in the formative stages of a company’s lifecycle, and that HR can be a force for good.
