Judy Markoe is an award-winning creative and strategic leader who has worked largely in the non-profit arena with a stint in commercial real estate. She has worked with large universities like Johns Hopkins College of Engineering as a strategic branding consultant and as Director of Marketing and Communications at the University of Maryland University College (Global Campus). There, she increased enrollments for five semesters, inquiries as much as 47%, and reversed a seven semester decline in new students to an 11% increase.
At the American Association of University Women, she created initiatives that garnered national visibility and a mix of programs that capitalized on that visibility. Shortchanging Girls, Shortchanging America increased AAUW’s membership by over 50%, increased recognition, influence and changed the way that girls were taught in schools.
Through Management Solutions Plus, an association management company and her consultancy, Big Picture Marketing Consulting, Judy has worked with nonprofit associations such as, the American Council on Education, NAFSA: Association of International Educators, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), the Association of Water Technology, the World Presidents’ Association, WETA and many more.
Judy is Chair of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) DC Foundation, is a Past President of AAF DC, is Co-chair of ADWKDC 2022 and Chair of the AAF District 2 National Student Advertising Competition. She’s served on numerous Boards and committees such as CFRE—Certified Fundraising Executive, the Capital Area YMCA and Lung Force (American Lung Association).
