VP of Business Development for Applecart
Peter is the Vice President of Business Development for Applecart, a venture-backed NYC-based data science company that builds accurate and actionable maps of real-world relationships between individuals using publicly available data. Prior to joining Applecart, Peter served as Publisher of The Hill, the largest independent political website in the United States. In this role, Peter oversaw revenue and strategy across The Hill’s distribution channels: digital, print, newsletters, video and events. Previously, Peter was an executive at Google and Twitter, where he built and managed revenue teams, coordinated between revenue and policy teams, and formed senior-level global relationships in politics, tech and media.
As Global Director for News Partnerships at Twitter, Peter transformed a team of former journalists focused on organic executions into a revenue-generating organization partnering with the largest news media companies in the world. In less than two years, Peter guided the team to 10x revenue growth while maintaining Twitter’s prominence in the news space and driving exponential growth in quality news video content onto the platform.
Prior to taking on the News role, Peter was Director of Emerging Markets for Twitter based in Singapore. He oversaw the launch of Twitter’s business operations in Russia via a reseller partnership and large customer export sales in Greater China by opening and overseeing an office in Hong Kong. In addition, he established the Global Brands & Agencies team across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Before moving to Singapore, Peter created Twitter’s political and public sector revenue business in the United States contributing to the first #TwitterElection.
Before joining Twitter, Peter founded the Public Sector sales team at Google, while also serving as Head of Industry Relations connecting Sales and Policy. For his work in the digital political space, Peter was named one of “Ten Who Are Changing the World of Politics & the Internet” by PoliticsOnline & the World eDemocracy Forum in 2009 and selected as a “Rising Star” by Campaigns & Elections in 2008. Before that, he worked on political campaigns and in government for a decade. He was campaign manager for Congressman Brad Carson’s Oklahoma US Senate campaign in 2004, named the best-run Democratic Senate race of the cycle by the Cook Political Report. Peter worked in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs as the Director of Congressional Correspondence during the Clinton Administration.
Peter graduated from Yale University and earned a master’s degree with distinction in Comparative Government from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and three sons.
