Director of Brand Marketing & Advertising, MGM National Harbor
As MGM National Harbor’s Director of Brand Marketing & Advertising, S. Malik Husser oversees the annual advertising plan including building and implementing paid media in alignment with company goals. From conceptualizing strategy, managing the brand to executing deliverables and managing vendors, Husser powers the marketing engine for MGM National Harbor to ensure regular and expanding traffic for the resort.
An integral part of MGM National Harbor’s early years, Husser joined the property in 2017 as Director of Communications. In this position, he led the strategic development for all media and public relations efforts, as well as social media initiatives across all platforms. This entailed elevating the company’s business objectives and goals through creative campaigns, as well as handling crisis communications, fostering media relationships and serving as a spokesperson for the property. Additionally, he supervised the execution of MGM National Harbor’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat accounts, increasing followings for multiple channels by 450 percent.
Husser’s work with MGM Resorts International extends beyond working in-house. Before MGM National Harbor, he was a lead at the property’s local public relations agency, R&R Partners, where he oversaw the strategic communications for MGM National Harbor and MGM Springfield. He also worked on key campaigns for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the American Gaming Association. Within his extensive career, Husser also held titles of Senior Director at IR+ Media LLC and Director of Development at Friendship Public Charter School.
Husser graduated from University of South Caroline where he received his Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Mass Communications. He also plays an active role in his community and sits on the board for Two Rivers Charter School and LIFT – DC.
