Dr. Shannon McLaughlin Rooney serves as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Strategic Communications at Community College of Philadelphia. In that capacity, she leads marketing and communications, admissions and recruitment, and institutional research and assessment for the largest public institution of higher education in Philadelphia. As a researcher, her work has examined news coverage, practices, and discourse. Her current research examines journalism studies, public history, and critical race theory to better understand the cultural legacy of the 1985 Philadelphia MOVE bombing. Shannon also serves on the board of the WHYY Community Action Board and as a fellow on the AGB Institute for Leadership and Governance in Higher Education.
