Founder, The Zoldak Agency
Sue Zoldak creates ground-breaking digital and social media campaigns, builds grassroots and advocacy campaigns, and provides leading-edge advertising and media strategy. She succeeds by bringing a Madison Avenue mentality to public affairs, unafraid to bring uncommon ideas to the table. Determined to get inside the mind of audiences and find out what gets them to act, Sue tirelessly seeks to deploy the right tools, but only as part of a sound strategy.
As Founder and Owner of The Zoldak Agency, Sue gets to do what she loves best – win advocacy campaigns with political acumen, deploy custom cutting-edge digital marketing techniques, and deliver hard-driving messages. A true believer in the power of networking, Sue is also the Founder and Hostess of DC’s fastest growing networking group, DC Media Peeps. DC Media Peeps events are attended by area professionals in public relations, communications, publishing, advertising, marketing, digital, journalism, public affairs, government relations, corporate affairs, non-profits, grassroots, advocacy, social media, and more. With more than a dozen years of experience as a public affairs professional, Sue was previously a Vice President at LEVICK Strategic Communications and a Senior Vice President at Adfero Group, both Washington, DC-based communications firms. In both roles, she led client teams and business development efforts. At the start of her career, Sue rose from intern to Vice President in less than six years at Goddard Claussen Public Affairs, where she led award-winning teams of strategic and creative talent for clients in industries including pharmaceuticals, transportation, energy, education, health care, consumer electronics, and food and beverage. She contributed to the firm’s 95 percent win rate in state initiative and referendum campaigns. In 2009 and 2010, Sue’s stewardship of the “Harry and Louise” brand (the first ever issue advocacy television ads from the early ‘90’s) led her to the modernization the public policy pop culture icons in 2009, resulting in top-tier media coverage and a National Journal interview for the article, “Mystery of who tweets for Harry and Louise solved.” Sue has worked with major trade associations including the American Beverage Association, U.S. Travel Association, National Retail Federation, American Council of Life Insurers, American Medical Association, American Insurance Association, and Edison Electric Institute. Her work in corporate public affairs includes clients General Motors, CBS, AstraZeneca and Nestlé Waters. A former middle school math teacher, Sue is also a recognized public speaker in digital, social, advertising and marketing strategies and trends. She appears frequently at such venues as the Public Affairs Council National Grassroots Conference, the State Policy Network Annual Meeting, DC Advertising Week, the Campaigns & Elections Reed Conference, corporate and trade association board meetings and in numerous college classrooms as a guest lecturer. She is also an adjunct professor for the Charles Koch Institute and a guest lecturer at American University. Sue has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Michigan and a Master in Public Policy from Georgetown University McCourt School.
